Current Gimmick:
Chase Stoner is, well, a stoner who claims that he has a superhumanly enhanced mind. He has hinted that the cause is from smoking so much pot, which garners him a lot of heel heat.

Background:
Chase Marner began his career as a wrestler. He quickly gained momentum in the industry (wrestling as "Top Notch" Chase Marner) due to his unbelievable charisma and his high work ethic. In 1998, he earned a try-out with ECW. Paul Heyman gave him the job, but he told Paul that he had one more indie show obligation the following Saturday.
On that indie show, Chase gave it his all. He put out extra effort to make his "swan song" the best match of his career. This led to him attempting a shooting star press from a balcony. He missed the pre-cut table and landed on his neck, breaking it!
The doctors said his career was over, but Chase had other plans. He worked hard to recover and in a year's time, he was back doing light training. He was ready to return to the sport he so dearly loved. During this time, he began smoking marijuana to deaden the pain and became addicted to it.
During his first match, he reinjured his neck, which landed him back in the hospital. He had to have yet another neck surgery. These two neck surgeries have put him in serious debt. Once he had healed, he once again trained and planned to return to the ring. By this point, ECW was no longer interested in him, thinking he's too injury prone.
He went back to the indies, working as a manager. He still wrestles from time to time and remains in great shape. |
